Gratitude

Gratitude

This year, after the advice from a trusted mentor, I started a gratitude journal. My mentor suggested it during our conversation about ways to experience joy in business and in life. I started writing three simple things that I was thankful for every night (well, many nights. I often forget). I would writing things like “I am thankful that I made Jordyn laugh today,” or “I am thankful I got to sleep an extra 30 minutes.” I am sharing this, because this simple practice is helping me to redefine happiness. I am realizing that joy is not something that happens to you, it is a way of living. Joy is something you feel when you find ways to be thankful even when there is so much to be stressed about. It is a change in perspective. I still have a long way to go. However, I believe that having gratitude has helped me to find and maintain new clients, to develop new and old friendships, to appreciate my family more, to have the confidence to pursue my goals and to stop being to daggone hard on myself! Hopefully someone else can read this and find the same peace.

Kene and Esther were one of the kindest, most loving couples I have ever had the pleasure of photographing. I love when a couple is not afraid to show affection and be themselves in front of the camera. Their bond was so beautiful. The icing on the cake was their impeccable style. I loved their traditional Nigerian outfits, dressed up look and casual option which provided some variety. Also, I didn’t realize until I was editing, that Esther managed to create three separate hair styles! Take a look at some of my favorite moments!

Maupin Holiday Portraits

Family session in Lithonia Georgia

I am in love with this beautiful family! We decided to shoot at Arabia Mountain Park in Lithonia Georgia for the Maupin’s Holiday Portraits. I assisted with everything from the location to the wardrobe to bring their vision to life. I really love the way these photos came out and I hope they will be a beautiful addition to the decor in their home. Check out some of my favorite shots!
